Description:

A stretch of the Hampshire Avon of approximately 2 miles.

Ibsley has a reputation as a big fish water, with numerous accounts of huge Barbel caught by Salmon anglers in the past. It has produced Barbel to 15lb in recent years along with Chub over 6lbs and most recently Roach to almost 4lbs (the new club record Roach caught early in 2004). Bream into double figures are present in some of the deeper glides towards the top of the stretch.

Top Tip:

Float fish with bread flake in the winter for excellent chub sport. Quality Roach can be caught on feeder fished maggot or bread flake but be prepared for many quiet sessions.

Special Notes:

Keep strictly to the fence line, approximately 20ft from the river.

Do not walk river bank and disturb other anglers.

Salmon roads have precedence.

Members will have their book removed if caught fishing during the closed period.

Electricity pylons cross this water, please take caution.
