Ringwood & District Anglers Association started working towards gaining their Clubmark accreditation early in 2010 and with a lot of hard work we were awarded Clubmark in December 2010. R&DAA's long-term vision is to see more juniors within the club with regular coaching and tutorial days and junior matches.

We currently have 5 club Coaches with Chris Holley heading up the team, each coach has very different angling styles and methods.

Coaching is available for beginners to advanced, and all ages are welcome. Coaching can include improving your techniques to preparing for matches even specimen hunting.

Chris Holley Angling Coach at Ringwood and District Angling Association

Chris Holley

Chris is a well known and respected Wiltshire based angler and a consultant to Fox Tackle International. Chris grew up in South London where he spent his early teens fishing for Carp on the pits and lakes of Kent. But his real love and passion is for running water, with over 30 years experience on rivers. He specialises in the pursuit of Barbel and Chub with over 200 double figure Barbel to his credit and Chub to 7lb 10oz. Chris has been classified by the media as traditionalist spending the majority of his time on the bank preferring to adopt a roving approach with conventional baits to search out his prey.

He has been involved in many angling clubs and organisations over the years, being a founder member of both the Barbel Society and Barbel Study Group and a regional organiser for the Barbel Catchers Club. He has carried out several studies on the species and their habitats. However, nowadays Chris spends much of his time teaching with tutorial days and presentations.

Using his extensive angling knowledge he has helped hundreds of anglers to improve their skills and achieve personal goals with many large specimens being landed. A great deal of Chris's time is now spent promoting the sport and working with juniors, local angling groups, children and young people.

Our coaches are fully qualified sport coaches and have all been CRB checked and have undergone Child Protection Training and are current First Aiders. If anyone is interested in any of these events please contact: Chris Holley, Head Coach or John Sudworth.

Match Section

RDAA has an established match/ competition section with approximately 18 matches and 3 open matches held each year across our Lakes and Rivers with cups and trophies for the winners, along with cash spot prizes for the secret weight.

All levels are welcome to join and costs only an additional £5 p/a. Success of the competition section is due to the no-clique atmosphere and diverse age group from 14-72 – it’s serious, but fun as well.

New members are always welcome.
